Ingredients:

• 2 cups – Banana Blossom (chopped finely and soaked in buttermilk)
• 1 cup – Channa dal (soaked)
• 1 – Onion (chopped)
• 2 – Green chillies (chopped)
• 1 tsp – Fennel seeds
• 1 tsp – Ginger (chopped)
• 2 – Garlic (crushed)
• Salt

Method:

  1. Soak the channa dal in water for at least 2 hours.
  2. Meanwhile, steam the chopped banana blossom with salt (without adding water) or saute them in a pan with few drops of oil.
  3. Wash the channa dal thoroughly. Grind the soaked channa dal with fennel seeds and salt coarsely.
  4. Add chopped onion, chopped green chilly, crushed garlic, ginger pieces, curry leaves, steamed banana blossom and mix well together with your fingers.
  5. Take a small portion and roll into small lemon sized balls.
  6. Continue making the dumplings until the ground batter is finished.
  7. Heat a cup of water in the pressure cooker and place the lemon sized channa dal balls over a plate.
  8. Steam cook (like we do for idlis) up to 10 minutes.
  9. Keep aside and let it cool.
  10. Serve with spicy chutneys or ketchup.
