Ingredients:

• 200 gm Basmati Rice
• 50 gm mixed nuts – Kaju, Badam, Pista
• 4 Cloves
• 4-8 black pepper(as per taste)
• 1 small / medium Onion
• 2 Bay Leaves
• 4-8 Red Chillies (as per taste)
• Ghee for frying
• 1 Carrot
• 6-10 Beans
• 6 Cardamoms
• Salt to taste
• 200 gm Toor Dal
• 4 Red Chillies
• 2 Green chillies
• 1 tsp Jeera
• 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
• 1 medium Onion
• 1 large Tomato
• Chopped Coriander leaves
• Oil

Method:

  1. Cook rice. Cut beans and carrots to one inch length.
  2. Stir fry beans and carrots in ghee and some salt.
  3. Cut onions as thin strips and fry well in ghee.
  4. Fry the nuts and chillies together.
  5. Grind nuts, chillies, cloves and peppers with little water.
  6. Mix the nut paste with fried onions. Add this mixture to cooked rice. Add salt to taste.
  7. Add bay leaves and cardamom to the rice. Keep it warm till you serve.
  8. For Dal:
  9. Cook the dal well and keep aside.
  10. Fry mustard in oil until it splutters. Add jeera and chopped onions. Fry till onions turn brown. Add chopped tomatoes, green chillies and red chillies. Fry till the tomatoes cook.
  11. Add the cooked dal . Cook on medium-high flame for 2 minutes. Lower flame, cover and simmer for 10 minutes.
  12. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving.
