
Ingredients:
• 250 g – onion, chopped
• 250 g – Tomato
• 2 tbsp – oil
• 2 tbsp – Chana (Bengal gram) dal
• 2 tbsp – urad (black gram) dal
• 12 Cloves Garlic
• 10 to 12 dry Red Chilli
• small size Lime – Tamarind
• salt to taste
• For Seasoning:
• 2 tbsp – oil
• 1 tsp – mustard
• 1 cup – Methi leaves, chopped
Method:
- Chop tomatoes and onion.
- Heat the oil in a kadai. Add both the dals.
- When they begin to brown, add chillies and garlic.
- Fry till garlic is dark brown.
- Add onion, fry till light brown.
- Add tomato, fry till soft.
- Cool the mixture and grind with tamarind and salt to a paste.
- Heat the oil for seasoning.
- Add mustard. When it splutters, add methi leaves and fry well.
- Add to the chutney and mix well.
- Serve as an accompaniment to a meal or with idli or dosa.
