Ingredients:
• Small Onions – 15 to 20
• Sambar Powder – 1 tbsp
• Jaggery – a little
• Tamarind extract
• Salt – to taste
• Asafoetida – a pinch
• Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
• Oil – 2 tsp
• Red Chilli – 1
• Kadi Patha – a few
Method:
- Soak the small onions in water for a couple of hours. Peel them and cut them into four halves.
- Take oil in a kadai. Add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add the kadi patha, asafoetida, red chilli and the onions and fry them.
- After 2 minutes, add the tamarind extract, jaggery, salt and sambar powder and allow it to boil.
- Once the boiling sound stops, it is ready to serve.
- This is good with rice and papad.
