Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup – Channa dal
• 1/2 tbsp – Rice flour or rava
• 1/4 inch piece – Cinnamon
• 1 – Clove
• 1 tsp – Fennel seeds
• 2 – Red Chillies
• 2 Cloves – garlic, chopped finely
• 1/4 inch piece – Ginger
• 1/2 tbsp – coriander leaves, finely chopped
• 4 – small onion, very finely chopped
• Salt to taste
• Oil for deep frying

Method:

  1. Wash and soak channa dal for few hours.
  2. Grind coarsely cinnamon, cloves , fennel seeds, ginger and red chillies with channa dal.
  3. The batter should be very thick and coarse.
  4. Transfer the batter to a bowl.
  5. Add onions, chopped garlic, rice flour, coriander leaves, salt. Mix well.
  6. Make equal sized small balls out of the mixture and pat them on your palm to form a circle.
  7. Arrange them in a plate ready to deep fry.
  8. Heat oil in a kadai and deep fry them till golden brown turning over both sides.
  9. Drain it on a tissue paper.
  10. Serve hot with any chutney of your choice.
