Ingredients:

• 1 small-ball-sized Tamarind
• 6-7 khajoors (dried dates) deseeded & broken
• 3 tbsp Jaggery
• 1tsp – finely chopped Mint leaves
• 1 tsp – finely chopped Coriander leaves
• 1/4 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 1/2 tsp – Cumin seed powder
• 3-4 pinches black salt
• salt to taste
• 1 tbsp – crushed Wood apple (optional)
• 1 tbsp – Onion finely chopped

Method:

  1. Boil tamarind, jaggery and dates together with little water.
  2. Cook till dates turn soft and cool.
  3. Blend in a mixie till smooth.
  4. Boil again till mixture coats back of spoon.
  5. Cool in a large plate to room temperature.
  6. Add all other ingredients. Mix well.
  7. If desired, add 1 chopped green chilli to make it spicier.
  8. Chill for an hour before serving.
  9. Serve as a dip with veggie fingers, soup sticks, frankies, etc.
