Ingredients:

• 2 cups – Horse gram/Lentils/Kollu
• 1 – Onion (chopped)
• 2 – Green chillies (chopped)
• 1 tsp – Ginger (chopped)
• 5 – Curry leaves
• 1/2 tsp – Fennel seed powder
• Salt
• Oil for Deep Frying

Method:

  1. Soak the horse gram for at least two hours, drain the water and grind into a coarse paste without water.
  2. If it is too hard to grind, sprinkle some water.
  3. Add the chopped onions, green chillies, ginger, curry leaves, fennel seed powder and salt, and mix well.
  4. Heat the oil for Deep Frying, take a small ball from the horse gram-spice mixture, flatten in your palms and gently add to the hot oil.
  5. Fry until well done.
  6. Drain the excess oil with a paper towel.
  7. Serve hot with spicy coconut chutney.
