Ingredients:

• 2 cups – Small Onions (Sambar Onions)
• 1 – Coconut grated
• 3.5 tbsp – coriander Powder
• 2 tbsp – Chilli Powder
• 2 tbsp – Oil
• 1 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1 – Tamarind, small ball soaked in water.
• Salt to taste
• For seasoning
• Mustard
• few – Curry leaves

Method:

  1. Saute the onions in a little oil for 3 mins.
  2. Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan and fry the coconut (till light brown) in it with coriander, turmeric and chilli powder for 2 minutes on low flame. Grind this into a fine paste.
  3. Make a fine pulp from the tamarind and add it to the ground masala.
  4. Place the masala on fire, add salt, the onions and cook till onions are done.
  5. Finally season it with mustard and curry leaves.
  6. Serve with rice or dosas.
