Ingredients:

• 2 cups – Thick Poha or pressed Rice
• 1/2 cup – Finely chopped, Onions
• 1/2 cup – Finely chopped Tomatoes
• 1/2 -Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tbsp – Lemon juice
• Cilantro for garnishing
• For Seasoning:
• 3 tbsp – Oil
• 1/2 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• 1/2 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 1 – Red Chilli
• 8-10- Curry leaves
• 1/2 tbsp – Channa dal or Peanuts
• 5-6 – Green chilli, chopped
• 1/4 tsp- Asafoetida / hing.

Method:

  1. Wash the poha in a colander under running water.
  2. Gently press the poha to remove the excess water and keep it aside in a plate.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds.
  4. Add the remaining seasoning ingredients and fry until the dhal is cooked.
  5. Add chopped onions and fry till it become soft and add turmeric powder. Mix, cover and cook it for 3-4 minutes on low heat.
  6. Add chopped tomatoes and cook for a minute.
  7. Meantime with help of fork, gently fluff up the poha and add to the onion tomato mixture.
  8. Stir gently and add salt to taste.
  9. Add lemon juice to the mixture and stir well.
  10. Garnish with cilantro.
  11. Serve hot with curd or any raita.
