Ingredients:
• 1 – big size Onion
• 1 – Tomato
• 2 – Green chillies
• 1.5 tbsp – gram flour/basin flour
• Tamarind – small Lemon size
• 1 tbsp – sambar powder
• 1 tbsp – sambar powder
• Salt for taste
• For Seasoning:
• 1 tsp – oil
• 1 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• Curry leaves – few
Method:
- Soak the tamarind in the water and extract the juice and keep it separately. Cut the onion and tomato.
- Heat the oil in the pan and add the mustard seeds once the oil gets hot. When the mustard seeds begins to sputter add the curry leaves and the onion.
- Once the colour of the onion changes to a light brown colour, add the tomato.
- When the tomato is cooked add the extracted tamarind juice, green chillies (cut length wise) and the sambar powder and salt.
- Once the mixture starts boiling add the gram/basin flour and add water.
- Quick (Avasara) sambar is ready to serve for idli/sambar.
