
Ingredients:
• 250 gms – Lotus stem
• 2 medium-sized Potatoes
• 2 tsp – red chili powder
• 4 – green chilies (finely chopped)
• 1.5 tsp – Mango powder
• oil for deep frying
• salt to taste
• For the Batter:
• 2 cups – gram flour
• 1 tsp – red chili powder
• a pinch of cooking soda
• sufficient water to make the batter
• salt to taste
Method:
- Wash and cut the lotus stem into medium sized pieces.
- Boil the lotus stem and potatoes, individually.
- Mash and mix them.
- Add red chill powder, finely chopped green chilies, mango powder and salt.
- Make small portions of this mixture. Now make a thick batter by mixing the gram flour with red chili powder, soda, salt and a little water.
- Dip each portion of the lotus stem-potato mash in the batter and deep fry on a medium flame till golden brown.
