
Ingredients:
• 6 tbsp – gram dal
• 6 to 7 medium-sized Potatoes
• 4 slices bread
• 3 tbsp – Corn flour
• 1.5 glass – water
• ?tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1 tsp – oil
• 1.25 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• ?tsp – Mango powder
• a few Raisins
• a few Cashew nuts (chopped)
• heart-shaped mould
• oil for shallow frying
• salt to taste
Method:
- Wash and soak the dal in water for about an hour.
- Add salt and turmeric powder, and boil till the dal becomes tender but is still whole.
- Dry up the water.
- Now heat a teaspoon of oil in a pan, add the red chilli powder and mango powder, and immediately mix it with dal.
- Let this cool completely.
- Add raisins and cashew nuts.
- Boil the potatoes and mash while still hot.
- Soak the bread in water and squeeze out the water completely.
- Now add this bread pulp, corn flour, and salt to the mashed potatoes. Knead well.
- Divide the potato mixture into 12 equal portions.
- Grease your palm and flatten each portion.
- Stuff with a little dal and form round balls.
- Put each ball into a heart-shaped mould.
- Shallow fry on medium till golden on both sides.
- Serve hot with green chutney.
