Ingredients:

• 3.5 cups – self-raising flour
• 250 g – Butter or margarine
• 2 cups – castor Sugar
• 2 cups – yogurt
• 4 – eggs
• 200 g – Cherries
• 2 tsp – soda bicarb
• 1 cup – cocoa
• To decorate: a few glace Cherries and some whipped Cream

Method:

  1. Sieve the flour, sugar, cocoa and soda bicarbonate. Cut the cherries and mix into the sieved ingredients.
  2. Melt butter in a heavy-bottomed pan. Cool slightly before adding the eggs and yogurt.
  3. Stir the butter mixture into the flour and combine well until smooth.
  4. Spoon into a greased tin and bake at 180 degrees C for an hour.
  5. Cool in the tin for a while before turning out onto a wire rack for further cooling.
  6. Decorate with whipped cream and cherries.
