Ingredients:

• 1 cup – Milk powder
• 1/2 cup – Bisquick pancake mix (or you can use 1/2 cup all purpose flour and 1/2 tsp baking soda)
• 2 tbsp – butter, melted
• whole milk, just enough to make the dough
• For Sugar Syrup:
• 2 cups – Sugar
• 1 cup – water
• oil for frying

Method:

  1. Make the dough by combining the milk powder, pancake mix and butter. Add just enough whole milk to make a medium-hard dough.
  2. Divide the dough into 18-20 portions. Make balls and cover with a slightly damp kitchen towel.
  3. Heat the oil on high and then lower the heat to medium. Add balls one by one.
  4. The balls must be fried very slowly under medium temperature.
  5. For Sugar Syrup:
  6. Mix the 2 cups of sugar to 1 cup of water.
  7. Add 4-5 cardamom pods, slightly crushed and a few strands of Kesar.
  8. Mix and then heat at medium heat for 5-10 minutes until the sugar is dissolved in water.
  9. Transfer this hot syrup into a serving dish.
  10. Add the fried gulab jamuns directly into the warm syrup.
  11. Leave gulab jamuns in syrup overnight for best results.
