Ingredients:

• 2 cup – Channa dal
• 100 g – bread crumbs
• 6 tbsp – cornflour
• A handful – Coriander leaves (finely chopped)
• 2 to 3 tsp – Red Chilli powder (or as per taste)
• 1 tsp – Cumin seed powder
• 1/2 tsp – Garam Masala powder
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• Salt to taste
• Oil – for deep frying

Method:

  1. Wash and soak the dal for 30 to 40 mins
  2. Boil the chana dal in 2 cups water with salt and turmeric powder.
  3. Cook on a low flame till the dal is tender and the water completely absorbed
  4. Cool and mash well
  5. Add coriander leaves, red chilli powder, garam masala powder cumin seed powder and cornflour
  6. Mix well. Divide into equal portions.
  7. Make thick round tikkis
  8. Coat each tikki with some bread crumbs and deep fry in hot oil on a medium flame till golden
  9. Serve hot with green chutney
