Ingredients:

• 1 cup boiled Channa dal/Bengal gram
• 2 big green chillies, finely chopped
• 1 big onion, finely chopped
• 5 slices bread
• salt to taste
• 1 tsp chilli powder
• 1 tsp cumin powder
• oil for frying

Method:

  1. Dip each bread slice in water and squeeze well to drain away extra water (the idea is just to moisten the bread slices).
  2. Mix all the ingredients, except the oil with the soaked bread.
  3. Divide into small balls and shape into cutlets.
  4. Heat the oil in a shallow pan and shallow fry the cutlets a few at a time till golden brown on both sides.
  5. Serve with mint chutney or tomato sauce.
