
Ingredients:
• 2.25 Cups – flour
• 1 tsp – Baking soda
• 2/3 cup – shortening
• 1.5 tsp – Salt
• 1 cup – Beer
• 1 tsp – Baking powder
• 1.5 cup – Sugar
• 3 – eggs
• 1/2 cup – Cocoa
• 2/3 cup – Sauerkraut (chopped, rinsed, and drained)
• For icing:
• 1 8 oz. – Cream cheese softened
• 1/2 cup – Confectionery Sugar
• 2 tbsp – Cream
• 1 tsp – Vanilla
Method:
- Cream butter and sugar together.
- Add eggs one at a time.
- Add beer and add cocoa.
- Sift together flour, salt, and baking soda and powder.
- Add to creamed mixture slowly, until it is mixed.
- Fold in sauerkraut.
- Put into a slightly greased 9 by 15 baking pan.
- Bake for 30 to 45 mins at 375 degrees F.
- Mix cream cheese, cream and vanilla.
- Add sugar slowly.
- Spread over the cake top.
