Ingredients:

• Dry peas – 1 cup (soaked overnight )
• Tamarind paste – 2 tbsp
• Salt – to taste
• For Roasting:
• Half Coconut – grated
• Red Chillies – 6 to 7 or even more
• Coriander seeds – 2 tbsp
• Split black Gram (urad dal) – 1 tbsp

Method:

  1. In a hot pan, roast all the ingredients for roasting till golden brown, without adding oil.
  2. Grind without adding any water. Keep aside.
  3. Pressure cook the peas for 2-3 whistles. In a vessel, transfer the cooked peas.
  4. Add water if it is too thick. Add the ground masala with tamarind paste and salt.
  5. Boil for 10 to 15 min. Remove from fire.
  6. Serve hot with rice and dal as a side dish.
