
Ingredients:
• 2 cups – tur dal
• 8-10 – Curry leaves
• 4-5 big tbsp – whole Coriander seeds
• 1-1.5 tbsp – Cumin seeds
• 1/4 – dry Coconut
• 1/4 tsp – Sugar
• 4-5 – whole Red Chillies
• 5-6 – black pepper
• 2 – Drumsticks
• 150g – Bottle Gourd
• 2 – Onion
• 1 – Brinjal
• 1.5 tsp – Mustard Seeds and Cumin seeds
• 5-6 tbsp – oil
• 1 tbsp – Turmeric powder
• 2 tbsp – Tamarind pulp
• 1 – Tomato
• Salt to taste
• Fresh Coriander leaves for garnishing
Method:
- First boil tur dal with tomato. Chop and boil drumstick, brinjal and bottle gourd in some water. Shallow fry the following ingredients for 1 minute – coriander seeds, cumin seeds, dry coconut, sugar, whole red chillies, black pepper – and powder.
- Take dal in a big pot, mash very well, add turmeric, coriander-cumin power, salt and mix well. Add some water if required
- Heat 5-6 tbsp oil in a pan, temper mustard seeds, cumin seeds. Add curry leaves, 2-3 whole red chilli and onion.
- Add dal, then add tur dal masala and cook until it boils.
- Add tamarind pulp and 1/2 tsp sugar.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
