Ingredients:

• 1.5 cups – Chana dal, soaked in water, drained
• 3 green chillies, minced
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp – Garam Masala powder
• 1 cup – coriander leaves, minced
• 1/2 cup – coconut, ground
• 1/2 cup – spinach, cooked, ground
• 1/4 tsp – soda bi carb
• Oil
• Salt and pepper to taste

Method:

  1. Grind half the dal coarsely. The other half finely.
  2. Add a pinch of soda bi carb to each portion.
  3. To the coarse paste, add half of the chillies, turmeric, half of the coriander leaves, coconut, salt and pepper.
  4. Make flat balls and deep fry in hot oil.
  5. In the fine paste, add garam masala, remaining chillies, coriander leaves, spinach, salt and pepper.
  6. Make flat balls and deep fry in hot oil.
  7. Arrange in alternate layers while serving.
