Ingredients:

• 1 cup – horse gram
• 2 tsp – chilli powder
• 1 tsp – cumin powder
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1 tsp – cumin powder
• Salt to taste
• 2 – onions, chopped
• 4 or 5 Curry leaves
• 2 tbsp – oil

Method:

  1. Soak horse gram in water for a few hours.
  2. Wash well and pressure cook it with 2 cups of water and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder till cooked but ensure that it is not too soft.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and fry the onions and curry leaves till they turn golden brown.
  4. Add the cooked horse gram, chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder and salt and stir well.
  5. Simmer on low heat for a few minutes.
  6. Serve as a side dish with rice or bread.
