Ingredients:
• 2 cups – Italian flat beans, chopped
• 1 – onion, chopped
• 1/4 tsp – Mustard Seeds + Urad Dal
• 2 – green chillies, slit opened
• 3 – Curry leaves
• 2 tbsp – grated Coconut
• Salt
• Oil
• For Usili:
• 1 cup – Channa dal + Toor Dal
• 2 – Red Chillies
• 1 – Green chillies
• 1 pinch – asafetida powder
• 1 tsp – ginger, chopped
Method:
- Soak the dals for 2 hours, drain it
- Grind the dals with green chillies, red chillies, salt, asafoetida powder coarsely, add the ginger to the paste
- Steam the ground mixture for about 10 mins in a steamer and keep aside
- When it cools, crumble it.
- Heat oil in a pan, splutter the mustard seeds and urad dal.
- Add the chopped onion and slit green chillies and curry leaves. Saute until the onion turns translucent.
- Add the chopped Italian flat beans, saute for a few mins and simmer with salt until done
- Add the scrambled dal to the cooked Italian beans and cook everything in medium high flame for 5 mins.
- Finally add the grated coconut and toss gently
- Serve hot.
