Ingredients:

• 2 cups – Italian flat beans, chopped
• 1 – onion, chopped
• 1/4 tsp – Mustard Seeds + Urad Dal
• 2 – green chillies, slit opened
• 3 – Curry leaves
• 2 tbsp – grated Coconut
• Salt
• Oil
• For Usili:
• 1 cup – Channa dal + Toor Dal
• 2 – Red Chillies
• 1 – Green chillies
• 1 pinch – asafetida powder
• 1 tsp – ginger, chopped

Method:

  1. Soak the dals for 2 hours, drain it
  2. Grind the dals with green chillies, red chillies, salt, asafoetida powder coarsely, add the ginger to the paste
  3. Steam the ground mixture for about 10 mins in a steamer and keep aside
  4. When it cools, crumble it.
  5. Heat oil in a pan, splutter the mustard seeds and urad dal.
  6. Add the chopped onion and slit green chillies and curry leaves. Saute until the onion turns translucent.
  7. Add the chopped Italian flat beans, saute for a few mins and simmer with salt until done
  8. Add the scrambled dal to the cooked Italian beans and cook everything in medium high flame for 5 mins.
  9. Finally add the grated coconut and toss gently
  10. Serve hot.
