
Ingredients:
• 1 cup – basmati Rice
• 2 – onions, medium sized, sliced
• 2 – tomatoes, chopped finely
• 1.5 tsp – Red Chilli powder (or depending on your taste)
• 1 inch – Cinnamon
• 3 – Cloves
• 2 – Bay Leaves
• 1 whole – black Cardamom
• 1 tsp – Ginger Garlic paste
• 1 small cup – Green peas (optional)
• 1/4 bunch – Cilantro or coriander leaves, chopped fine.
Method:
- Heat oil in a pan or a pressure cooker.
- Season with bay leaves, cloves, cinnamon and cardamom.
- When the cloves pop, put in the sliced onions and fry till light brown.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and fry well till the tomatoes are soft.
- Put in the ginger garlic paste and the red chilli powder and fry well.
- Add the washed rice, green peas (optional), cilantro, salt to taste and the required amount of water. Mix well and allow it to cook till the rice is done.
- Serve hot with onion, tomato and cucumber raitha.
