Ingredients:

• 50 g – dates, cut into strips
• 1 cup – raisins, washed and soaked in hot water
• 3 – lemon-sized balls of tamarinds
• 1.5 cups – Jaggery
• 2 cups – water
• Salt to taste
• 1 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 1/2 tbsp – cumin seeds, roasted, powdered
• 1 tsp – Ginger powder

Method:

  1. Soak the tamarind and jaggery in water for 30 mins.
  2. Mash the soaked tamarind well and strain removing all the liquid and pulp.
  3. Add salt, red chilli powder, cumin powder, and ginger powder.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Add the dates and drained raisins.
  6. Mix well.
  7. Let it rest for 30 mins before serving.
