Ingredients:
• Curry leaves – 1 cup
• Toor Dhal – 1 tbsp
• Red Chillies – 10
• Black Pepper – 2-3 tsp
• Jeera – 1 tsp
• Tamarind – size of a Lemon
• Jaggery grated – 2-3 tsp
• Mustard, Hing for seasoning
• Salt – to taste
• Gingili oil (preferably) or any other cooking oil – 3 tbsp
Method:
- Soak Tuvar dal in water for 1/2 hour.
- Separately soak tamarind also in water.
- Grind all the ingredients except the seasoning with as little water as possible along with the soaked dhal and tamarind.
- Now heat oil in a kadai, add mustard and hing and when it splutters, add the ground paste and fry till oil separates out from the chutney.
- Tips: This is very good with rice and ghee and also as an accompaniment for dosa or idli. This is given to mothers with newborns.
