
Ingredients:
• 1 cup – Rice flour
• 1/2 cup – grated coconut, fresh/frozen
• 1/4 cup – hurigadale/putaani/channa dalia, powdered
• 1 to 2 tsp – Jeera
• 2 tsp – chilli powder, medium spice
• 2 tsp – oil
• 1/4 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• a pinch – Hing
• salt as per taste
• oil for deep frying
Method:
- Grind coconut in a blender without adding water to make it a fine powder.
- Mix all the ingredients together in a mixing bowl.
- Heat 2 tsp oil and add to the mixture. Add very little water and make a dough by kneading well.
- Make small balls from the dough and roll them into strands of desired size with your hands.
- Moisten your hands and join one end of the strand to the other to form a circle.
- Heat oil in a kadai/wok, drop the kodubales into the oil and fry on low-medium heat.
- They are done when they turn golden-brown in colour. This usually takes about 8-10 mins.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Store in air-tight containers after they cool down.
