Ingredients:

• 2 cups – Bottle Gourd (cubed)
• 1 cup – Moong dal
• 1 tbsp – Ginger (grated)
• 1 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 3 – Green chillies
• 1 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• 2 – Bay Leaves
• 2 – Dry Red Chillies
• Salt
• 1/2 tsp – Sugar
• A few Coriander leaves

Method:

  1. Cook the moong dal in pressure cooker for 2 whistles with salt until it turns soft.
  2. Once the steam is released, add the cubed bottle gourd, turmeric powder and cook with lid closed until the bottle gourd pieces are well done.
  3. In a small pan, saute the bay leaves, dry red chillies and mustard. Add the tempered spices to the dal.
  4. Add green chillies, grated ginger and sugar and cook for a few minutes.
  5. Add coriander leaves and take off the stove.
  6. Serve hot with rice and pickles or papads.
