Ingredients:

• 500 g – hilsa fish
• 4 – 6 tsp – Mustard Seed
• 2 – 4 – Green chillies
• 1 tsp – kalonjee (onion seed)
• 2 tbsp – Mustard oil
• 2 tbsp – Curd
• 1 tsp -turmeric powder
• 2 – 4 cloves- Garlic
• salt

Method:

  1. Clean and wash the fish.
  2. Cut the fish into 1 cm thick slices.
  3. Coat with salt and turmeric powder.
  4. Grind mustard seeds and green chillies into a fine paste.
  5. Blend curd and keep aside.
  6. Now add mustard paste, curd, and shredded garlic cloves to the fish and marinate it for half an hour.
  7. Heat oil, add kalonjee then add marinated fish, slit green chillies and 2 cups of water into it.
  8. Cook it on low flame till fish becomes tender.
  9. Serve hot with plain rice.
