
Ingredients:
• 1/2 kg – mackerel
• 1 cup – Coconut grated
• small piece of ginger, sliced thinly
• 4 flakes – Garlic sliced thinly
• 2 – Green chillies
• a lot of Curry leaves
• 1 tbsp – Red Chilli powder
• 1/2 tbsp – Turmeric
• 1/2 tbsp – cumin powder
• juice of Tamarind – Lemon sized
• For grinding:
• Grind the above 1 cup of Coconut grated with 1/2 tbsp of Turmeric finely
• For seasoning:
• Cut Onions into small bits
• mustard
• oil
Method:
- Clean the fish and cut each fish to two pieces.
- Now add 3 cups of water to the coconut ground and add the ginger, garlic, green chillies, red chilli powder, cumin powder and tamarind juice to it.
- Finally the curry leaves.
- Let this mixture boil nicely.
- Once boiled, add the fish pieces and cover till the fish is done.
- When the fish is done, now add the seasoning.
- Heat oil and add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add onions and brown it.
- Add this mixture over the fish.
- Excellent with hot basmati rice.
