Ingredients:

• 100 gm – whole masoor
• 1 tsp – Ginger paste
• 1/2 cup – coriander leaves, chopped
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 2 tbsp – plain flour
• 1/2 tsp – red chili powder
• 1 – onion, grated
• 1 – egg, beaten
• 1 cup – bread crumbs
• salt to taste

Method:

  1. Soak lentils for 2-3 hours.
  2. In a pan place lentils, onions and ginger.
  3. Add 1/2 cup water and boil till it is cooked (the lentils are softened between fingers under a light pressure).
  4. Add spices and mash. Allow to cool.
  5. Make round patties (kabab).
  6. Cover with beaten egg mixture then roll in bread crumbs.
  7. Deep fry in hot oil till golden brown.
  8. Decorate with finely chopped lettuce.
  9. Serve with tomato sauce or mint chutney.
