
Ingredients:
• 2 cups – white peas (soaked and cooked in pressure cooker)
• 4 – Onions (chopped)
• 2 – Tomatoes (chopped)
• 4 – Garlic (chopped)
• 1 inch piece – Ginger (chopped)
• 2 – Green chillies (chopped)
• 1/4 cup – grate Coconut
• 1/2 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 1 tsp – coriander powder
• 1/2 tsp – dry Mango powder
• 1/2 tsp – Garam Masala powder
• 1/2 tsp – Cumin seeds
• salt to taste
• oil as needed
• mixture for topping the pav buns
• A few chopped Coriander leaves
• 6 – pavs
Method:
- For misal pav:
- Keep aside a few chopped onions for use while serving.
- Heat a kadai with a tbsp of oil and saute the onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, green chillies until they turn soft.
- Add the coconut and cook for a few minutes. Keep aside and allow it to cool.
- Grind the sauteed veggies as a paste.
- Heat enough oil in a kadai and fry the cumin seeds until they turn brown.
- Add the red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, dry mango powder and fry on low flame for a few seconds.
- Immediately add the paste and cook everything on simmering flame. Add enough water to prepare a gravy.
- Add salt and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the cooked peas, bring to boil and turn off the stove.
- While serving, top it with the pav buns mixture, chopped onions and coriander leaves.
- Serve with pav buns.
