Ingredients:
• broken matta Rice – 1 cup
• oil – 1 tbsp
• Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
• black gram (urad) dal – 3 tsp
• Fenugreek seeds – ¼ tsp
• crushed black pepper – ½ tsp
• water – 1.25 cup
• salt to taste
Method:
- Heat oil in a kadai. Add mustard.
- When it splutters add black gram dal and fenugreek.
- When the dal turns brown add pepper, water and salt.
- When the water starts boiling add rice.
- Lower the flame and cook stirring till the mixture forms a lump.
- When it is cool enough to handle, make lime size balls of the mixture, with a thumb in the center.
- Steam the dumpling for 15 minutes.
- Serve with chutney.
