Ingredients:

• Toor Dal – 1/4 cup
• Tamarind – 1 Lemon size
• Sambar powder – 1 tsp
• Black pepper – 1 tsp
• Cumin – 1 tsp
• Tomato – 2 small
• Salt to taste
• Ghee – 1 tsp
• Mustard – 1/4 tsp
• Coriander leaves – to garnish

Method:

  1. Pressure cook the tuvar dhal until soft, mash and keep aside.
  2. Soak the tamarind in warm water and get the pulp.
  3. Add the sambhar powder and salt.
  4. Cut tomatoes and boil thoroughly
  5. Grind pepper and cumin coarsely, add this to the boiled mixture and boil for a minute. Remove from fire.
  6. Add some water to the mashed dal and bring it to boil in a separate vessel.
  7. Now add the rasam to the dal, boil well.
  8. Heat ghee, splutter the mustard and add it to the rasam.
  9. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
