Ingredients:

• 1 cup – Foxtail Millet
• 1/2 cup – Split Moong dal
• 1/4 tsp – Asafetida powder
• 1 tsp – Grated Ginger
• 1/4 cup – Ghee or Oil
• 1/2 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 10-15 – Peppercorns
• 10- Cashew nuts
• Salt to taste
• 8-10 -Curry leaves.

Method:

  1. Wash the millet and the moong dal and pressure cook with three cups of water, ginger, asafoetida powder and salt. Cook until 3 whistles.
  2. Now heat the ghee or oil and saute the cumin seeds, peppercorns, cashew nuts and curry leaves until brown.
  3. Once the pressure is released, add the tempered spices and cashews into the pressure cooker, and toss until everything gets mixed.
  4. Serve hot with sambar or coconut chutney.
