
Ingredients:
• For the Coconut paste:
• 1/2 cup – grated Coconut
• 3/4 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 2 tbsp – water
• For the seasoning:
• 2 tsp – oil
• 1 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• 1 spring – Curry leaves
• 1/2 cup – green lentils (cooked)
Method:
- Boil again cooked green lentils with 1 small darbyasole for 5 minutes on a low heat.
- Grind the ingredients under “for the coconut paste” and add to the cooked green lentils and mix well.
- Adjust salt and extra 1/4 cup (50 ml) water if you required.
- Gashi should be of pouring in consistency. Cover and cook on low heat for 10 minutes.
- For the seasoning:
- In a small frying pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds.
- When they begin to pop, add curry leaves and fry for 2 – 3 minutes till crisp.
- Pour this seasoning over gashi and serve with rice.
