Ingredients:
• 250 g – yellow moong dal
• 1 litre – Milk
• 200 g – Sugar
• 8 to 10 green Cardamoms (powdered)
• 12 tbsp – Ghee
• 10 to 12 Almonds sliced (for garnishing)
Method:
- Soak the moong dal in water for 5-6 hours.
- Drain out the water and grind coarsely using very little water.
- Heat the ghee in a heavy bottomed vessel and saute the dal on a very low flame till the dal turns a shade darker than golden brown.
- This will take a very long time but keep stirring continuously throughout.
- Add milk, powdered cardamoms and cook till the milk dries up.
- Add the sugar and cook further till the ghee separates.
- Place the vessel on a preheated tava and let it simmer for 7-8 minutes.
- Garnish with sliced almonds. Serve hot.
