
Ingredients:
• Tamarind – size of a big Lime
• Prawn – 250 g (shelled and deveined)
• Button Mushroom – 200 g
• Oil – 1/2 cup
• Onion – 2 cups, chopped
• Chilli powder – 2 tsp or to taste
• Coriander powder – 1 tsp
• Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
• Salt to taste
Method:
- Soak the tamarind in 2 cups of hot water for 15 minutes and extract the juice.
- Sprinkle the prawns with 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder.
- Wash and drain after 10 minutes.
- Cut the mushrooms into quarters.
- Heat oil and fry the onions until light brown.
- Add the prawns and mushrooms. Sprinkle with salt and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
- Add chilli powder and coriander powder and fry for half a minute.
- Add 1/2 cup of tamarind juice and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add the remaining tamarind juice and simmer until the gravy gets the consistency of thin cream.
- Serve with steamed rice, idli or dosa.
