
Ingredients:
• 1 cup – green moong dal
• 1/2 – 3/4 cup – Rice
• 1 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1 tbsp – Ghee
• salt to taste
• 6-7 cups – water
Method:
- Wash both dal and rice together. Soak for an hour in salted water.
- Add half the turmeric. Pressure cook dal with half the water. It gets done in about 4 whistles.
- Transfer to a large saucepan, add remaining water, turmeric, ghee and add more salt if required.
- Cook while stirring, till the khichidi is thick and well mixed. Mash a little if desired.
- Serve hot with more ghee (optional) and kadhi.
