Ingredients:

• 1 pound – Okra, cut into thin pieces, breadth wise.
• 1 large Onion – cut into thin strips
• 2-3 – Chillies, cut into small pieces
• Seasoning: Half a tsp each of mustard seeds, Urad Dal and Channa dal.
• 1/4 tsp – Garam Masala
• 4 tbsp – Oil for frying
• Salt and Turmeric – as per taste

Method:

  1. Heat some oil in a skillet, and when it is hot, add the mustard seeds.
  2. When they splutter, add the channa dal and urad dal.
  3. Fry till they are golden brown.
  4. Lower the heat or the seasoning will burn.
  5. Add the onions and saute till they are translucent.
  6. Add the okra, chillies, some salt and turmeric powder. Saute on low heat.
  7. Continue frying till the okra is well fried and is no longer sticky.
  8. At this point, the masala should look red.
  9. Turn off the heat and sprinkle some garam masala on the sabzi. Cover.
  10. Serve hot with rice or chapattis.
