Ingredients:

• 4-5 pieces – Catla fish
• 1 – Elephant Apple (cut to 5-6 large pieces and remove the vicious ‘garlic’ looking inside)
• 1 – Onion
• 3 – Tomatoes
• 2 – Bay Leaves
• 3-4 – Green chillies
• Mustard oil
• Salt
• Turmeric powder

Method:

  1. Rub turmeric powder to the fish pieces and shallow fry in mustard oil. Keep aside.
  2. Add bay leaves and onion to the same oil and fry till golden brown.
  3. Add tomato and green chillies, fry till the tomato starts to melt.
  4. Add turmeric powder, salt and the Elephant Apple pieces.
  5. Stir fry for 3-4 minutes.
  6. Add water and cover with a lid.
  7. When the water starts to boil, add the fish pieces.
  8. Cover and cook on low flame until the gravy becomes thick.
  9. Serve with rice.
