Ingredients:

• 1 tbsp each – urad, toor, moong, gram and masoor dal
• 1 tsp each – mustard seeds, Cumin seeds
• 12 mm – Cinnamon
• 2 – Cloves
• 4 – Curry leaves
• 4 – small Red Chillies
• 3 – green chillies, chopped
• 2 tsp – Ginger and garlic, finely chopped
• 2 – tomatoes, roughly chopped
• 1/2 tsp – Garam Masala
• 2 tbsp – chopped coriander
• 2 tbsp – oil
• juice of 1 Lemon
• salt to taste

Method:

  1. Wash all the dals. Soak for 1 hour and then drain.
  2. Add 5 to 6 cups of water and cook in pressure cooker until soft.
  3. Heat the oil and fry the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dalchini, cloves till they crackle.
  4. Add the curry leaves, red and green chillies, ginger and garlic and fry for 1 minute.
  5. Add the tomatoes and garam masala, the dals, coriander, lemon juice, salt and boil for 8-10 mins.
