Ingredients:

• 2 cups – rice.
• 1 tbsp – toor dal.
• 2 – red chillies.
• 1 cup – Coconut flakes.
• 1 tsp – urad dal.
• 1 tsp – mustard seeds.
• 1/2 tbsp – oil.
• hing.
• curry leaves.
• Salt to taste.

Method:

  1. Put the dry rice and toor dal in the blender and coarsely grind it.
  2. In a pan, put oil, urad dal, mustard seeds and red chillies. Fry them brown.
  3. Add 3 cups of water, salt, hing, coconut flakes and curry leaves.
  4. Once the water starts to boil, add the rice-dal mixture and mix them well.
  5. Cover and keep aside for a few minutes.
  6. Make into tiny balls and steam cook in the idli cooker in the same way as you cook idlis.
  7. Serve them with mint chutney or onion chutney.
