Ingredients:
• 2 cups – rice.
• 1 tbsp – toor dal.
• 2 – red chillies.
• 1 cup – Coconut flakes.
• 1 tsp – urad dal.
• 1 tsp – mustard seeds.
• 1/2 tbsp – oil.
• hing.
• curry leaves.
• Salt to taste.
Method:
- Put the dry rice and toor dal in the blender and coarsely grind it.
- In a pan, put oil, urad dal, mustard seeds and red chillies. Fry them brown.
- Add 3 cups of water, salt, hing, coconut flakes and curry leaves.
- Once the water starts to boil, add the rice-dal mixture and mix them well.
- Cover and keep aside for a few minutes.
- Make into tiny balls and steam cook in the idli cooker in the same way as you cook idlis.
- Serve them with mint chutney or onion chutney.
