Ingredients:
• Bottle Gourd – 2 cups, peeled and cut into 3 cm cubes
• Green chillies – 2
• Ginger – 1 cm slice
• Garlic – 4 flakes
• Coconut – 1 cup, grated
• Rice flour – 2 tsp
• Oil – 2 tbsp
• Cloves – 3
• Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
• Onion – 1/2 cup, finely chopped
• Chilli powder – 1 tsp
• Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
• Salt to taste
Method:
- Crush green chillies, ginger and garlic together.
- Grind coconut with rice flour to a smooth paste.
- Heat oil in a kadai. Add cloves and cumin seeds. Fry for a few seconds.
- Add onion and fry till light brown. Add chilli and turmeric powder.
- Add gourd pieces and salt. Cover and simmer till the vegetable is tender.
- Add the coconut paste and enough water to form a thick gravy.
- Simmer for 2-3 minutes and remove from fire.
