Ingredients:

• 1 cup – uncooked macaroni (small)
• 1.5 cups – water
• 1 tsp – oil
• 2 tbsp – Butter
• 1 – Onion (chopped) or 2 Spring onions (chopped along with thin green parts)
• 2.5 tbsp – flour (maida)
• 1.75 cups – Milk
• 3/4 tsp – salt
• 1/2 tsp – pepper
• 1/4 tsp – mustard powder
• 25 g – cheese (1 cube) – grated
• 1 tbsp – bread crumbs
• For Garnish
• some Tomato slices & chopped Coriander leaves

Method:

  1. Microwave on high 1.5 cups of water with oil in the dish uncovered for 3 minutes.
  2. Add macaroni.
  3. Microwave on high uncovered for 5 minutes.
  4. Let it stand in hot water for 4-5 minutes.
  5. Drain & wash well with cold water.
  6. Keep it aside.
  7. In the dish, put butter, microwave on high, covered for 1 minute.
  8. Add spring onions and microwave on high, covered for 2 minutes.
  9. Add flour.
  10. Mix well and microwave on high uncovered for 30 seconds.
  11. Add milk.
  12. Stir well, so that no lumps are formed.
  13. Add salt, pepper & microwave on high uncovered for 3 minutes stirring after every minute to avoid lump formation.
  14. Microwave on high, uncovered for 1-2 minutes more if the sauce does not turn thick.
  15. Add mustard power, boiled macaroni, grated cheese .
  16. Mix well.
  17. Sprinkle bread crumbs on top.
  18. Arrange 2-3 tomato slices and sprinkle a little chopped coriander.
  19. Microwave on high uncovered for 2 minutes.
