Ingredients:

• 1 – large Onion
• 2 – large Tomatoes
• 2-3 – Garlic Cloves
• 3/4 – tsp Red Chilli powder
• 2 tbsp – Tamarind extract
• Oil as required
• Salt to taste
• For Seasoning:
• 8-10 Curry leaves
• 1/4 tsp – mustard
• Pinch – of Asafoetida powder

Method:

  1. Fry the chopped onions in oil till transparent, add the garlic cloves, chopped tomatoes and fry till the tomatoes are well cooked.
  2. Add chilli powder, salt and stir for 3 minutes.
  3. Remove from fire and allow it to cool.
  4. Then grind this cooked mixture to a fine paste in a mixer.
  5. Heat oil in the same kadai, splutter mustard, add the curry leaves and asafetida.
  6. Allow half a minute to saute, add the ground paste and stir fry for 3 minutes.
  7. The chutney is now ready to be served.
