Ingredients:
• 5 – Potato
• 1.5 cup – gram flour
• 1/4 cup – Rice flour
• 1/2 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• Salt to taste
• 1 tsp – pepper
• Oil for frying
• 1 tbsp – Butter
• 1/4 tsp – Asafoetida
Method:
- Pressure cook the potatoes, remove the skin, mash and keep aside.
- Take the gram flour and rice flour in a big bowl and mix well.
- Grind the pepper to a coarse powder and add it to the flour along with salt, red chilli powder and asafoetida and mix well.
- Add the mashed potatoes to the flour and mix well.
- Knead the flour to make a smooth and stiff dough
- Heat oil in a pan, grease the thenkuzhal press with oil and press 1 handful of karasev dough to the hot oil.
- Fry the karasev on both the sides in a medium flame till it becomes crispy.
- Remove the fried karasev and place it in a strainer or a paper towel to drain the excess oil. Serve.
