Ingredients:

• Toor dhal – 3 tbsp
• Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
• Black pepper powder – 1 tbsp
• Jeera (cumin) powder – 1 tsp
• Red Chillies – 4
• Ghee – 1 tbsp
• Jaggery – 1 small piece
• Lemon juice – 1 tsp
• Asafoetida – 1 pinch
• Salt to taste
• Coriander (cilantro) leaves

Method:

  1. Pressure cook tuvar daal with 1/2 tsp ghee and turmeric.
  2. Add 2 cups water and cook till well done.
  3. Pour the cooked daal into a vessel and turn on heat.
  4. Add salt, jaggery.
  5. Bring it to a boil.
  6. Set aside.
  7. Heat the remaining ghee.
  8. Add red chillies, jeera powder, pepper powder & asafoetida.
  9. When it is well done, add it to the cooked dhal mixture and stir well.
  10. Add lemon juice garnish with coriander leaves.
