Ingredients:

• 1 – Turai
• 1 – small Onion
• 3 tbsp – sesame seeds
• 4 – Green chillies
• Tamarind – size of a small Lemon
• 3 – Garlic
• 4 tbsp – Coriander leaves
• 1/2 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• 1/2 tsp – cumin
• 1 tsp – Urad Dal
• 1 stalk – Curry leaves
• 2 – dry Red Chillies
• Asafoetida – a pinch
• Salt
• Oil

Method:

  1. In a thick vessel, heat oil, add chopped onions and saute for a while.
  2. Add chopped turai and stir. Leave it to cook on low flame till soft.
  3. Add sesame seeds, green chillies, garlic, tamarind and salt.
  4. Mix well and cook for 5 mins. When soft, blend in a mixie.
  5. Make a coarse paste and keep aside.
  6. For tempering, heat oil in the same vessel, add mustard, cumin and urad dal.
  7. When mustard splutters, add broken dry red chillies, asafoetida and curry leaves.
  8. Add it to the chutney.
  9. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
