Ingredients:
• 2 cups – moong dal
• 1 Bay Leaf
• 1/2 tsp Turmeric
• 2 tsp chilli powder
• 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
• 1.5 tsp Mango powder
• Salt to taste
• 1/2 cup sesame seeds
• 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
• A pinch of Asafoetida
• 3 tsp coriander powder
• 1 tsp Sugar
• Ghee as required
Method:
- Soak the dal for 1/2 an hour.
- Heat a kerahi and add 1 tbsp – ghee.
- Fry cumin seeds, a pinch of asafoetida, turmeric, chilli and coriander powders, sesame seeds and bay leaf.
- Cook till just brown.
- Add the soaked, drained dal and add double the amount of water.
- When the dal is cooked and water is dried, add mango powder, sugar and garam masala and salt.
- Add one cup of water and let the mixture cook evenly.
