Ingredients:
• 1 cup – Fine Rice flour
• 1 – Raw banana
• 1 tsp – Jeera/cumin seeds
• 5-6 – Green chillies
• 1 tsp – Chopped coriander
• 1 pinch – Asafoetida (hing)
• 1 tsp – Grated Ginger
• Salt to taste
Method:
- Wash the raw banana and cook it in a pressure cooker with enough water and without removing the skin. Cook till 2-3 whistles.
- Allow it to cool and peel the skin. Mash the banana into a fine paste.
- Mix all the other ingredients in a large bowl.
- Add the banana paste and enough water to make a batter which is thicker than idli/dosa batter.
- Spread oil on a thick-bottomed tava and spread the batter with your hands.
- Add a little oil along the sides.
- Cook covered for 2-3 mins. Reverse the sides and cook covered again.
- Serve hot with chutney. This dish is also called Baalekaayi akki roti.
